Tea Time

We love tea, especially the spicy herbal variety. There's nothing as quintessentially south asian as masala chai - so it only makes sense to give it away as a wedding favor. We love the idea of giving away little tins of chai mix all gussied up with pretty labels and instructions - kind of like this bride.

For a DIY project, you could make your own batch of the mix, buy some tins, and go crazy with the packaging. You can find tins here, and for a sample masala chai recipe go here.

For those of you interested in buying pre-made loose leaf chai mixes, Adagio has some great varieties - all of it looks so pretty and smells heavenly.

So How Do You Actually Learn A Dance?

Our friend got us hooked on Saroj Khan - the choreographer behind many of the early 90s bollywood hits - and her show "Nachle Ve". She takes much of the credit for Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit's acclaimed dancing ability. This is for those of you who - like us - need a little help learning choreographed dances, because seriously, we need all the help we can get.

Basically, Saroj breaks down a dance and teaches it to the viewers. First she'll dance alone and then her students will dance so you get an idea of what the whole thing should look like. So do wait for the students to do their thing!

Don't you love her facial expressions? Over-the-top in the best possible way! Oh, and if you want to see the actual bollywood video it's based on....check it out here!

p.s. - there are a TON of these videos on youtube and the dances are broken down even further with step-by-step instructions
