Laboratory Style

While doing our usual online shopping we came across these vases at Urban Outfitters. Lovely, no? And the whole look is pretty easy to replicate with a few items you may already have lying around the house.

Making a Flower Garland

We have been meaning to do a do-it-yourself flower garland (haar, jai mala, gajra) post for a while now, so it's almost serendipitous that project wedding posted an easy way to make one.

All you need is:
- 10 -15 stems of fully opened flower blossoms
- Fishline
- A Needle
- Scissors
- A spray bottle with water
- Ziplock bag
- Ribbon (around 2 yards)

Check out the full post for all the directions! We know many people make these as their own, do you have your own particular method of making them or any particular flowers you use? We'd love to hear.

Also, take a look at some of our favorite flower garlands from the weddings we've shown.

A Crown of Flowers

Stylist Linda Sundqvist's flower wreath and JCrew's spring catalog have us thinking of all those nights when brides traditionally adorn themselves with flowers as opposed to jewelry. We're thinking these crowns would be perfect for a mayoon, haldi, mehndi or sangeet.

At the very least, it's making us rethink the flowers to be used for haars, jai malas and flower jewelry at weddings.

For more thoughts on flowers and hair, check out our previous posts on tucked in flowers, a designer look, and a pretty floral headpiece.

In Bloom

Sometimes less is more and all you need is a bloom or two to really make a statement. It's easy, cost effective and certainly makes the above tablescapes striking.

A Little Holiday

We'll be taking a short break this week (yikes!). But we'll be back next week with lots of new stuff. In the meantime, feel free to use the comment board as a way to discuss wedding related matters...

Flowers and Payals

Our reader Naushin sent us this lovely bouquet wrapped in traditional anklets. We thought the ethnic jewelry added a nice little touch...

Flowers and Hair

Speaking of flowers and headpieces, we wanted to share this image we recently stumbled upon - an interesting twist on the traditional flower headpiece look. We're kinda digging it, what say you?

It kind of makes us want to frolic through fields slow motion filmi-style (even though you know those fields are actually really muddy).

Warm and Cozy Wedding Ideas

We were just browsing through Martha Stewart Weddings (because no one compares to the genius that is Martha) and came across her "Good Things for Winter Weddings" series. Perfect for a cold, blustery day like today.

Here are some of our favorites ideas - fabric flower placecards, wintery flowers in pretty vases, donut and coffee snacks for guests, and mini coconut souffles!

Flowers and Things

Even though we've only been blogging for about a month we've already noticed so many different takes on the haar (also known as the jai mala). Couples are really changing things up from the traditional red and white garlands and we wanted to share some of our favorites so far.

Can't wait to see the garlands we'll come across next!
