Chanel: Paris to Bombay

The recent Chanel Paris-Bombay Pre-Fall 2012 collection inspired by Moghul-era India certainly captivated quite a few of us out there. But in terms of our little wedding blog, we wanted to focus on the decor. It was nice to see traditional elements such as fruit in silver platters and goblets, jasmine flowers and rose petals strewn on tables, and intricately carved silver boxes done in a fresh way. We especially like the color-blocked macaroons and Indian sweets.

It seems as though Paris is having a bit of a love affair with all things Indian at the moment. Did anyone check out the recent article in T magazine with a guide to the Indian subculture in Paris? We thought the comments were interesting.

How cute is this cutlery all tied up with a neat little bow. So perfect for dressing up buffet settings or adding a playful touch to individual table settings.

Make Your Presentation POP!

Something as innocuous as drinks can be presented so that all the fizzy will pop. When we saw Project Wedding's feature on vintage soda bars we thought - what a great idea, especially for alcohol-free muslim weddings.

Love the way the old fashioned soda bottles above are arranged according to the colors of the rainbow. And the soda cans below - from a real wedding - are so cute with the straws and labels. Definitely something to think about....

Saw this white on white dessert table on classic bride a while back and wanted to share with you all! Considering many desi weddings consist of buffets it's always nice to see interesting ways of presenting food. And we totally agree with classic bride - it's oh so winter appropriate!

Warm and Cozy Wedding Ideas

We were just browsing through Martha Stewart Weddings (because no one compares to the genius that is Martha) and came across her "Good Things for Winter Weddings" series. Perfect for a cold, blustery day like today.

Here are some of our favorites ideas - fabric flower placecards, wintery flowers in pretty vases, donut and coffee snacks for guests, and mini coconut souffles!

A Little Wedding Inspiration from Portland

This past weekend we took a trip up to Portland, Maine, and the city was so chock full of pretty little details that could be incorporated into a wedding! We thought we'd share a few of them with you...


Drinks served in mason jars...perfect for an outdoor summer cocktail hour. Think lemonade, arnold palmers, iced tea, with lots of mint and sliced lemons!

How about a late night snack for guests, once all the dancing starts to wear them out: mini sandwiches and pickles, laid out oh so precisely on cute little wooden trays.

French fries made with duck fat, and served in crisp white cones. Hors d'oeuvres everyone would love!

And finally, lovely macarons in all sorts of colors piled high on a dessert table.

An Ode to Cupcakes

We've mentioned our love of cupcakes so many times, we figured it was about time they got a post all their own!

They're cute, they're yummy and they add just the right touch to all sorts of weddings (ok yes - this post is basically an excuse to drool over the pretty pictures).

Street Food Redefined

We all know desi weddings are all about the food. We also know that South Asia has some of the best street food around. So why not put the two ideas together!

A great idea for a cocktail hour, sangeet, or mehndi is to serve street food inspired dishes instead of a full out dinner. This way you can switch things up from one event to another, really experiment with the presentation of the food, and do it all on a budget. Look no further than Spice Market in New York which has really perfected this concept.

Another twist could be to have a food truck drop by for some late night wedding snacks. Check out the Dosa Truck for more information (it's also been featured on Beauty and the Feast). How fun!
