Party Hats = A Great Weekend

image via we heart it via motley photos

Remember when you wore party hats to EVERY party growing up? We miss those days. They totally need to be used more at grown-up parties and events that aren't new years.....basically we mean weddings!

Have a great weekend everyone.

A Sweet Napa Wedding: Selina and Chris

Today we thought we'd end the week with a sweet Napa wedding that reminds us of summertime and sunshine. Selina and Chris had a fun mehndi the night before their wedding, followed by an outdoor wedding that was all relaxed elegance. And Caroline Tran was an absolute genius at capturing all the moments!

Things we love - the springy florals, outdoor piano and heartfelt emotion that shines through the photographs.

Congrats you two!

The Sabyasachi Bride

Just wanted to share Sabyasachi's view of a south asian bride courtesy of Vogue India. Love him.

Also, isn't this look so Frida Kahlo-esque? She's always such a source of inspiration.

Let's Go Fly A Kite!

images via flickr

We've been toying with the idea of using kites at a wedding for a while now. After all, what's not to love? They're playful, colorful, and a seriously fun pastime (even when your kite gets cut!). Wouldn't they be lovely all stacked up in a row for the kids to play with at a wedding? Or as favors to take home. Or even for a fun engagement session....

All About Mandaps

Today we thought we'd do a round up of some of the mandaps we've seen so far. We've seen couples use everything from yards of beautifully draped fabric to clusters of flowers, even some very elegant tent inspired mandaps. There's just so much you can do, this is just a small sampling of all the possibilities...

All Hollywood Glam: Parminder and James

We've always had a bit of a girl crush on Parminder ever since Bend It Like Beckham, so today we thought we'd share some images from her wedding last year to photographer James Stenson - as a sort of one year anniversary. After all, it's not every day a desi celebrity gets married in the west!

We love all the warm oranges and pinks, the fancy beaded tablecovers and of course, the old school bollywood number!!

p.s. - check out John Stamos on that stage in the background!

Have a great weekend....

We're off for a quiet weekend of making piles and organizing all our knick knacks....

A Little Something Extra

We were so enamored with Lollipop Events & Designs and their use of an anthropologie shower curtain as decor, we thought we'd share a few more of the little details they orchestrated for the same event. A lot of these elements would be perfect for a south asian wedding.

Filling up sectioned drawers with candy and flowers (and a little bit of sparkle) - what a charming twist to a traditional candy station!

Pretty print napkins accented with peacock feathers - the ubiquitous south asian motif done in more neutral tones.

And lanterns scattered about provide a lovely warm glow with some eastern flavor. Some of the lanterns even had flowers spilling out instead - for a touch of whimsy.

Strike a Pose

Remember this sweet couple's wedding? Well, in addition to a gorgeous wedding, they also had tons of great photobooth pictures - courtesy of our heros Our Labor of Love!!

You've already heard us talk about photobooths, but they really are such a great addition to any wedding. They give guests something to do, and you can go all out with props and themes.

Plus there's just something about a photobooth that brings out the inner diva in everyone - who doesn't want to strike a pose!

You can see the rest of the wacky hilarity from this wedding here.

Ruffles Ruffles Everywhere

So lately we've been really obsessed with the idea of incorporating ruffles into wedding decor - they're just so fun and flirty. You could use them as a backdrop for anything from mandaps and stages to head tables, even for photobooths!!

Here are two couples that used ruffles in completely different but thoroughly delightful ways:

The couple above had their wedding at Beehive and chose to say their vows on the gorgeous ruffled stage.*

The images below are from a Maui wedding designed by Lollipop Events & Designs where the ruffled backdrop was a perfect complement to the soda bar.

For ready-to-buy pieces, Anthropologie has some gorgeous ruffled shower curtains. These would be perfect for a pretty, whimsical wedding and yes, you could even use them once the wedding is over. It's not always the case that you get to use your wedding decor later on...

We can see many of you crafty readers creating your very own ruffled looks. It would be the ultimate DIY project.....imagine how much fun you could have with colors and fabrics!

*We love Beehive's bohemian den vibe and their poutine is off the charts. Definitely worth a visit if you're ever in Boston.

We're so excited to start off this brand new week! Lots of news and posts coming your way, so lets get right to it with this lovely affair, it's full of traditional touches and sweet little surprises. And Brooke Schwab Photography did an absolutely wonderful job with the photographs.

Our favorite things - the sleek flower-filled mandap, the pretty favor pouches tucked away at each chair, the elaborate rasams and of course, that adorable little boy with his moustache!

We're not done yet! Lots more to come from this Texan wedding.

Have a Great Valentine's Day...

image via iambaker

We thought we'd celebrate valentine's day with a big fat cake. This one even has a surprise heart in the middle. Our philosophy is that the best way to celebrate anything is by eating, so we better get to making this delicious thing. Have a great long weekend everyone and see you on Tuesday!
